Belle Chasse is a census-designated place (CDP) in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. It is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River. It is part of the Greater New Orleans Metro Area. Its population was 9,848 back in 2000 census. In French Belle Chasse literally means “beautiful hunting”. It is named that because of the richness of wildlife. Belle Chasse is the largest town in Plaquemines Parish. It serves as a headquarters for the Louisiana Air Force National Guard.
