According to Wikipedia, Destrehan is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Charles parish, Louisiana. Back in 2000 census stated that the population was 11,260. Destrehan Plantation the former home of Jean Destrehan US Senator in 1812 has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been restored and is one of the attractions on the Great River Road along the Mississippi River. In January of 2012, Sheriff Greg Champagne of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office made arrests of 38 people as part of a nearly yearlong undercover drug operation. Champagne said, “There has long been a correlation between drug sales and property crimes in St. Charles Parish.
