Minden is the parish seat of Webster Parish, Louisiana. It is located 28 miles east of Shreveport. The population is 13,082. Minden is the principal city of the Minden Metro Statistical Area and that is part of the larger Shreveport-bossier City-Minden combined area. The median income for a household in the city was $24,175 and the media income for a family was $31,477. The per capita income for the city was $14,114. During the American Civil War, a large confederate encampment housing some fifteen thousand soldiers was located east of Minden. It was a supply depot for the troops. Some thirty Confederate soldiers are buried in the historic Minden Cemetery located off Pine Street. Minden has a large number of businesses and an active Chamber of commerce.
